Exam Delivery Options

Tableau Certification exams can be delivered both at testing centers and online. Failure to attend your scheduled exam session (without meeting the rescheduling and/or cancellation requirements) will result in forfeiture of your entire exam fee. Tableau cannot refund this fee.

Online proctored exams

Tableau Certification exams can be taken from anywhere you have a stable internet connection. First time test takers who wish to schedule an appointment online must create a Pearson VUE Web account. Candidates who schedule online exam appointments and do not meet the system requirements at the time of exam will be considered a failure to appear. Prior to testing please visit this Pearson VUE page about the online testing experience.

Rescheduling policy – access your Pearson VUE account online to reschedule your exam at least 24 hours before your exam scheduled time begins. Failure to reschedule in time or failure to appear for your appointment may result in the forfeiture of your entire exam fee.

Cancellation policy – access your Pearson VUE account online to cancel your scheduled exam at least 24 hours before your exam scheduled time begins. Failure to cancel in time or failure to appear for your appointment may result in the forfeiture of your exam fee. Exam refunds are not provided.


Test center exams

Tableau Certification exams are delivered in a proctored environment at a Pearson VUE Authorized Test Center. First time test takers who wish to schedule online must create a Pearson VUE Web account. Once you have a web account you may log in to schedule a certification exam or locate a test center. Prior to testing please see the Pearson VUE Candidate Testing Rules.

Test Scheduling

Exam rescheduling and cancellation policies depend on the exam delivery option you choose. Please review the rescheduling and cancellation policies above based on the delivery option you choose. Once you’re ready to schedule your exam, use the links at the top of the page to sign into your web account, schedule your appointment and either submit your exam fee or input your voucher code.

Tableau Certification Program Agreement

Prior to starting your exam, you will be asked to agree to the terms and conditions of the Tableau Certification Program Agreement. Candidates are encouraged to review the document prior to your exam day.

Exam Retake Policy

  • If you fail your first attempt, you must wait 24 hours before registering for your second attempt.
  • If you fail your second attempt, you must wait 14 days before registering for your third attempt.
  • If you fail your third attempt, you must wait 6 months before registering for your fourth attempt.
  • The retake policy will reset after the fourth attempt. You must pay the exam fee for each attempt.
