Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals Certifying Organization (SMRPCO)

The Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals Certifying Organization (SMRPCO) serves to promote and advance the knowledge and application of maintenance, reliability and physical asset management while identifying those individuals who voluntarily seek to obtain higher education and certification amongst their peers. SMRPCO establishes and enforces examination, experience and ethics requirements to strengthen the interests of practitioners and protect venues where they are employed. CMRP Certification

The Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) program is the leading credential for certifying the knowledge, skills and abilities of maintenance, reliability and physical asset management professionals. The CMRP is the only certification program of its kind accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), which follows the globally-recognized ISO standards for its accreditation purposes. The test is a thorough examination of a broad scope of expertise measured against the universal standard. It was developed to assess professionals’ aptitude within the five pillars of the SMRP Body of Knowledge (BoK), which include Business & Management, Equipment Reliability, Manufacturing Process Reliability, Organization & Leadership, and Work Management.

Eligibility

The CMRP is available to any maintenance and reliability professional, regardless of education background or work experience. Candidates interested in sitting for the CMRP must:

  • Complete and submit the CMRP application
  • Pay all applicable fees in advance
  • Have not sat for the exam within the past six (6) months

Scheduling/ Registration

To schedule your exam appointment, register at https://smrp.​org/Certification/Register-for-an-exam. You will not be able to schedule an exam appointment if you have not already registered with SMRP and paid your examination fee. After you register, you will visit Pearson VUE's site using your SMRP login credentials to select your testing date, time and location.

Exam Fees

  • SMRP members: $300.00 (USD)
  • Sustaining Supporter employees, active military or U.S. Veterans: $250.00 (USD)
  • Nonmembers: $470.00 (USD)

Third-Party Training

SMRPCO does not endorse any outside person, preparation course or product in connection with the CMRP certification program.

Exam Duration

CMRP examinees have 2.5 hours to complete the exam.

CMRT Certification

The Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT) program is the leading credentialing program for the knowledge, skills and abilities of maintenance and reliability technicians.

The certification assesses the knowledge and skills of those responsible for preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance – multi-skilled individuals who play a critical role in the success of organizations worldwide. Earning the CMRT credential indicates that you have achieved a level of ability consistent with the requirements for competence on the job as a multi-skilled maintenance and reliability technician.

The CMRT exam tests competency and knowledge of specific tasks within four (4) domains: Maintenance Practices, Preventative & Predictive Maintenance, Troubleshooting & Analysis, and Corrective Maintenance.

  • Pay all applicable fees in advance
  • Have not sat for the exam within the past six (6) months

Exam Duration

CMRT examinees have 3 hours to complete the exam. The exam is divided into two equal parts with an optional 10-minute break in-between. After Part 1 is completed and closed, candidates will be unable to make edits to Part 1.
