TOKYO, JAPAN — December 17, 2020
Tokyo, Japan, 17 December 2020 – Pearson VUE, the global leader in computer-based testing, announced today that it has extended its agreement with LPI-Japan. The new agreement means that Pearson VUE will continue delivering the following certification exams and will now offer OnVUE as an additional option for candidates when taking the following exams:
- Linux Professional Certification (LinuC)
- TML5 Professional Certification (HTML5)
- OSS-DB Professional Certification for PostgreSQL professionals (OSS-DB)
- OpenStack Professional Certification Exam (OPCEL)
LPI-Japan and its certification activities are globally recognized by the IT industry, enterprise customers, community professionals and the educational community. With the current state of COVID-19 and the subsequent disruptions to in-person testing (both in Japan and around the world), it’s critical for professional certifications to continue forward and for test-takers to be offered flexible and convenient ways to test.
OnVUE online proctored exams will allow LPI-Japan’s candidates to take an exam in the comfort of their own home while being monitored by an offsite proctor through a webcam. All communication with the proctor for LPI-Japan’s open technology professional certifications will now be done in Japanese, with a Japanese-speaking proctor.
As of November 9., candidates have been able to use OnVUE for four LinuC exams (Level 1 version 10.0 exams and Level 2 version 10.0 exams) and from November 30. for the OSS-DB exams. The other exams will be made available with online proctoring options through the course of 2021.
Atsuo Suzuki, Chairman of LPI-Japan said “We are pleased that we can offer our exam programs including LinuC Version 10.0 exams, that certify specialist Linux knowledge and skills in the cloud and digital transformation era, with online proctoring via a Japanese-speaking proctor. This will provide greater convenience to candidates during the pandemic or who may live in remote areas.”
Tetsu Ikeda, Vice President, Pearson VUE Japan, commented: “We look forward to continuing this remarkable relationship with LPI-Japan for many years to come. LPI-Japan is our first local client to utilize OnVUE with Japanese-speaking proctors. We are pleased to now be enabling candidates to continue their certifications with our online proctoring solution during this difficult time.”
