Dental Assisting National Board renews multi-year contract with Pearson VUE to deliver certification exams


BLOOMINGTON, MN, Dec. 5, 2014 – The Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) has chosen to renew its relationship with computer-based testing leader Pearson VUE to deliver its five national certification exams and its state-specific exams.

Pearson VUE will continue to be the sole provider for the delivery of DANB’s five national certifications and related component exams: Certified Dental Assistant™ (CDA®), Certified Orthodontic Assistant™ (COA®), Certified Preventive Functions Dental Assistant (CPFDA®), Certified Restorative Functions Dental Assistant (CRFDA®) and in early 2015, DANB’s fifth national certification program, National Entry Level Dental Assistant (NELDA™). DANB additionally administers state-specific exams to meet dental auxiliary regulatory requirements in nine states. The exams are available at Pearson VUE’s extensive network of test centers across the USA, as well as at military sites globally and select international locations.

DANB will utilize ExamDeveloper™, Pearson VUE’s item banking software suite which integrates the functionality of test development, test publishing and analysis support within a secure web-based platform.

The DANB is a member of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE), a national membership organization for credentialing bodies, and its CDA and COA certification programs are accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) which means that the exam programs are designed and built according to industry best practices to be valid, reliable and fair.
